*******************************************
Sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) under the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau through the Film Development Fund (FDF), Cinema Day 2026 is set to take place on April 25 (Saturday), when all commercial cinemas across Hong Kong will offer tickets at $30 each.
Attending the press conference for Cinema Day 2026 today (April 15), the Commissioner for Cultural and Creative Industries, Miss Drew Lai, encouraged the public to go to cinemas to watch films and support Hong Kong's film industry. In her speech, Miss Lai said that the Government has been committed to fostering the development of the local film industry, and has supported various initiatives through the FDF to promote Hong Kong films and expand the audience, including Cinema Day. Cinema Day aims to cultivate the public's cinema-going culture, thereby supporting the long-term development of Hong Kong's film industry and to boost consumption in the neighbourhood at the same time.
CCIDA has been sponsoring the Hong Kong Theatres Association to organise Cinema Day for four consecutive years since 2023, consistently attracting over three times more admissions than usual each year. In the past three years, Cinema Day recorded over 600 000 admissions and box office revenue of more than $44 million in total. The initiative has been well received by the public and the film industry.
Tickets for Cinema Day 2026 will be available from noon on April 22 at the box offices, websites and mobile apps of cinemas. For details, please refer to the cinemas' latest announcements.
