Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

     Sun Shine Decoration Limited and Wai Tat Aluminium & Glass Engineering Company Limited were fined $500,000 and $230,000 respectively at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (April 14) for violating the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
      
     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on May 16, 2025, at a residential house in Kwu Tung. While mounting insulation boards on the top of a metal canopy, a worker fell from height into the swimming pool of an adjacent house. He was certified dead in hospital later that day.
