Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi yesterday (March 30) in which two men died.

     At about 11.16pm, a bus driven by a 49-year-old man was travelling along Lantau Link towards airport. It reportedly rammed into a stationary taxi. 

     A 66-year-old male taxi driver and a 37-year-old male taxi passenger were trapped inside the vehicle and were rescued by firemen later. 

     Sustaining no superficial injury, the taxi passenger and driver were rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state and were certified dead today (March 31) at 0.15am and 0.43am respectively. 

     A 66-year-old female bus passenger sustained mouth injury and was sent to the Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.

     The 49-year-old male bus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is under way.
