*******************************
The Secretary for Justice, Mr Paul Lam, SC, continued his visit to Nanjing today (March 26).
In the morning, Mr Lam had a breakfast meeting with the Mayor of Nanjing, Mr Li Zhongjun, and other leaders of Nanjing, to exchange views on the latest developments in Nanjing and opportunities for collaboration with Hong Kong.
Mr Lam then attended the Jiangsu-Hong Kong Legal and Business Integration Service Platform Launch Ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, Mr Lam said that the establishment of the platform is a significant milestone for Jiangsu and Hong Kong in deepening co-operation and concertedly pursuing development. He believes it will help the two places complement each other's strengths, better serving the foreign-related legal needs of Jiangsu enterprises and, in the meantime, expanding the scope for development of Hong Kong professional services.
Mr Lam also visited the Jiangsu (Nanjing) Foreign-related Legal Service Center to learn about the development of local foreign-related legal services.
Before leaving Nanjing, Mr Lam met with Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province Mr Hu Binchen. Mr Lam said that Jiangsu has a deep industrial foundation and an open business environment, while Hong Kong is equipped with a legal system and professional services that align with international standards. He said he looks forward to the two places pragmatically advancing co-operation in different fields during the National 15th Five-Year Plan period and contributing to the country's high-level opening up together.
Mr Lam concluded his visit in the afternoon and will return to Hong Kong.
