Opening ceremony of Diversity and Inclusion Arts Festival 2026 held today (with photos)

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Chris Sun; the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Arts Festival, Mr Thomas Chu; the President of the Connecting Hearts Academy, Professor Annie Tam; the Vice Chairperson of the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong, Ms Grace Cheng; the Chief Executive Officer of St James' Settlement, Ms Josephine Lee; the Vice-Chairman of the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee, Dr Kevin Lau; the Commissioner for Rehabilitation of the LWB, Mrs Winnie Kang; and the Assistant Director of Social Welfare (Rehabilitation and Medical Social Services), Mr David Ng, officiated at the opening ceremony. Representatives of various participating organisations also attended. At the opening ceremony, artists with disabilities showcased remarkable artistic talents and extraordinary perseverance through sand painting, piano playing, singing and dance, winning enthusiastic applause and praise from the audience.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Sun expressed his hope that the public could learn more about the artistic talents and diverse abilities of persons with disabilities (PWDs) through the Arts Festival during this arts-filled March. He reiterated the Government's commitment to promoting an inclusive society, and appealed to the community for continued support to PWDs in unleashing their potential and contributing to society.
Jointly organised by the LWB and the Organising Committee comprising various rehabilitation and social welfare organisations, the Arts Festival showcases the creativity and diverse talents of PWDs through a series of diverse activities, including an arts exhibition, inclusive arts performances, an arts bazaar, inclusive arts workshops, as well as district-based arts activities, from now until March 29 at the Xiqu Centre in the WKCD and in various other locations.
