SITI congratulates Hong Kong delegation on its remarkable achievements at 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva

     The 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva was held from March 11 to 15 in Geneva, Switzerland. The Hong Kong delegation, comprising 44 organisations including local universities, research and development (R&D) centres, technology companies, government departments, and primary and secondary schools, continued its active participation in this world's largest invention exhibition this year. The delegation has won nearly 300 prizes, including a record high number of 12 Special Awards with The Oasis One International Limited also winning the Grand Prix, as well as 57 Gold Medals with Congratulations of Jury and 98 Gold Medals, setting the encouraging best record for the Hong Kong delegation.

     Government department, local educational institutions, research institutes and enterprises demonstrated exceptional performance at the exhibition, clinching a total of 12 Special Awards as follows:
 
  • The Oasis One International Limited: a tropical marine finfish aquaculture industrial chain solution (*also winning the Grand Prix at the Exhibition)
  • Drainage Services Department: Crawler-type all-terrain pipeline survey robot "T300"
  • InnoHK Advanced Biomedical Instrumentation Centre, University of Hong Kong: a nose-to-brain nanopowder nasal spray for rapid ischemic stroke rescue
  • InnoHK The Microbiota I-Center, The Chinese University of Hong Kong: a synbiotic formula (SLD07) for liver health
  • City University of Hong Kong: a seawater desalination device
  • Hong Kong Baptist University: an AI-powered fact-checking as a service
  • The Hong Kong Polytechnic University: PD-001R for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases; and Power Generator Inspection: The Baffle-compatible Autonomous Robot
  • MTR Corporation Limited: Acoustic GearGuard: Al-enhanced acoustic for running gear health and maintenance optimisation
  • Hong Kong Innovation Foundation Limited: ParkNSave (Youth Group)
  • The Lam Foundation – Ching Chung Hau Po Woon Primary School: BioCapture (Youth Group)
 
     The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong, today (March 15), congratulated the Hong Kong delegation on their remarkable achievements at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva. He said, "I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the Hong Kong representatives for shining on the global innovation and technology (I&T) stage. Hong Kong's remarkable achievements in scientific research depend on our profound I&T capabilities and talent advantages. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government will continue to deploy resources to enhance talent training and encourage R&D. To align with the country's 15th Five Year Plan, the HKSAR Government will proactively integrate with the country's strategic directions by developing Hong Kong into an international I&T centre, contributing to high-level technological self-reliance of our country."
