Appointments to new term of Expert Group on Conservation for Sha Lo Tung announced

     The Environment and Ecology Bureau today (February 27) announced the membership of the new term of the Expert Group on Conservation for Sha Lo Tung (Expert Group).

     The Expert Group was established in 2024 to assist the Government in mapping out long-term strategies for conserving the ecology and biodiversity of Sha Lo Tung, to advise the Government on measures to promote scientific research and eco-recreation in Sha Lo Tung, and to steer the implementation of conservation studies and projects carried out there.

     The new term of the Expert Group will be for two years, from March 1, 2026, to February 29, 2028. With Dr Miguel Lau Wai-neng as the Convener, the members include experts and scholars from the fields of nature conservation or related sectors involved in promoting conservation work, as well as representatives from the relevant policy bureaux and government departments.

     The Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan, expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Convener, Professor Lam Kin-che, and member Mr Daryl Ng Win-kong for their contributions during their term of office in conserving Sha Lo Tung. He said that he looked forward to working closely with the new-term members to continue taking forward relevant research and conservation work, thereby laying a solid foundation for the long-term conservation strategy for Sha Lo Tung.
