FEHD invites market to submit expressions of interest for future operation of Stanley Waterfront Mart
***************************************************************

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) invites the market to submit expressions of interest (EOIs) for the future operation of the Stanley Waterfront Mart today (February 12).

Located along the Stanley Promenade, the Mart (formerly the Stanley Temporary Market) is a public market managed by the FEHD. Since commencing operation in 2007, the Mart originally housed 20 stalls offering light refreshment as well as dry and wet goods. Due to changes in the business environment and other factors, the number of tenants at the Mart has gradually decreased in recent years. At present, all long-term tenants have moved out, and the stalls are now open to interested parties for operation under short-term tenancies.

The FEHD considers that the operating model of the Mart can be revamped by introducing a single operator management model. Through enhancing the communal seating area, setting up a pet-friendly resting area, and offering a diversified mix of dining, retail, and cultural experiences, the site can be transformed into a new venue welcomed by both the public and tourists. Through this EOI exercise, the FEHD aims to gauge whether there are parties in the market interested in operating the site and welcomes them to put forward concrete proposals on aspects such as layout design, stall mix, and other suitable operating models.

The FEHD invites the market to submit EOIs within the coming four months. Further details are available on the FEHD website.
