SCED to visit Malaysia

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Algernon Yau, will depart for a visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, tomorrow afternoon (January 29).

     Mr Yau will attend a Chinese New Year dinner hosted by the newly established Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Kuala Lumpur on January 30 to strengthen links with various sectors of the local community and promote Hong Kong's new business opportunities. He will also meet with senior government officials of Malaysia to exchange views on fostering closer economic collaboration between the two places.

     Mr Yau will return to Hong Kong on January 31. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Dr Bernard Chan, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development.
