SITI to visit Thailand and Malaysia

     The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong, will depart for a visit to Thailand and Malaysia this morning (January 27) to further strengthen the ties in innovation and technology (I&T) between Hong Kong and the two countries, and actively explore co-operation in emerging industries with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries, with a view to promoting synergistic development of I&T ecosystems in the region.

     During the visit, Professor Sun will visit I&T parks, major universities and enterprises there, and meet with local government officials and relevant policy bureaus. The Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Mr Terry Wong, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited, Mr Vincent Ma, will also join the visit.

     Professor Sun will return to Hong Kong in the evening of January 30. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Ms Lillian Cheong, will be the Acting Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry.
