Murder and attempted suicide in Tsim Sha Tsui

     Police are investigating a murder and attempted suicide case happened in Tsim Sha Tsui yesterday (January 22) in which a man died.

     At about 4.56 pm yesterday, Police received a report from a staff member of a hotel on Austin Avenue that a man and a woman were found collapsed inside a hotel room.
 
     Police officers sped to the scene and located the duo lying unconsciously on bed. Sustaining injuries to his neck and hands, the 77-year-old man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 5.19pm. The 73-year-old woman was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment in semi-conscious state.

     Initial investigations revealed that the couple had allegedly attempted to commit suicide by taking pills in the hotel room, the woman allegedly murdered her husband afterwards. Police arrested the woman for murder. She is being detained for further enquiries.

     Two will notes, a twenty-three centimeters long fruit knife and a table knife suspected to be case related were seized at scene.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Yau Tsim District is underway.
