​Since 2024, the Transport Department has issued six autonomous vehicle pilot licences for road tests in designated zones. Among the trials, the tests in North Lantau have achieved significant technological progress in four key areas. The department also plans to promote driverless operations in 2026.
      
     A Transport Department engineer spoke to News.gov.hk about the advancements, while a representative from the first licensed technology company explained the tests.
