The National Security Department (NSD) of the Hong Kong Police Force today (January 8) laid a charge of "knowingly publishing publications that had a seditious intention" contrary to section 24 of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance against a 61-year-old man.

     The NSD arrested the man on November 29, 2025. Police investigation revealed that the arrested man repeatedly published posts with seditious intentions on an online social platform, with content provoking hatred, contempt or disaffection against the fundamental system of the state established by the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China; and the constitutional order, executive, legislative or judicial authority of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

     The case will be mentioned at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
