Death on arrival case in Tsim Sha Tsui reclassified as manslaughter

At 3.54pm on January 2, Police received a report stating that a foreign man had expressed to his friend an intention to commit suicide.
Upon Police arrival, the 36-year-old foreign man was found lying in the corridor of a hotel on Nathan Road while another 24-year-old man was found lying inside a hotel room. They were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state. The 24-year-old man was certified dead at 7.26pm on the same day (January 2). Some six grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug‑consumption paraphernalia, etc. were seized.
After initial investigation, the case was classified as death on arrival. The 36-year-old foreign man was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of Part I poison and possession of apparatus fit and intended for injection of a dangerous drug. He was charged with one count of possession of dangerous drugs, one count of possession of Part I poison and one count of possession of apparatus fit and intended for injection of a dangerous drug. The case was mentioned at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on January 5 morning.
After Police in-depth investigation, it was believed that the 36-year-old foreign man attempted suicide with the 24-year-old man by taking drugs. The case was reclassified as manslaughter. The 36-year-old foreign man was further arrested for manslaughter yesterday. He has been additionally charged with one count of manslaughter. The case was mentioned at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts this morning (January 7).
Active investigation by District Crime Squad of Yau Tsim District is underway.
