Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident happened in Yau Ma Tei today (December 31), in which a woman died.

     At 7.57pm, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 65-year-old man was making a left turn from Waterloo Road onto Ferry Street. When approaching the junction of Waterloo Road and Ferry Street, it reportedly knocked down and ran over a 57-year-old female pedestrian.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the woman was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 8.18pm.

     The HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
