Tseung Kwan O Government Offices Public Car Park commences service (with photos)

     The Transport Department (TD) said today (December 29) that the Tseung Kwan O Government Offices Public Car Park on Tong Yin Street, Tseung Kwan O, has commenced service. It is the first Government public car park equipped with the Automated Parking System (APS).

     A spokesman for the TD said that, to increase the supply of parking spaces to address the public's demand and achieve optimal land use, the Government will continue to pursue a host of measures, including incorporation of carparks in suitable government, institution or community facilities and public open space projects in accordance with the "single site, multiple use" principle.

     The carpark on Tong Yin Street provides 388 parking spaces, comprising 249 for private cars (225 puzzle-stacking APS spaces and 24 conventional spaces), 25 for motorcycles, 10 for light goods vehicles, 10 for light buses, 15 for buses/coaches and 79 for medium/heavy goods vehicles.

     Among them, the conventional and the APS' lower level spaces for private cars and spaces for motorcycles and light goods vehicles are equipped with fee-paying electric vehicle charging facilities. Smart equipment including the access control system, licence plate recognition system with automatic barrier arm and parking bay information system have been adopted in the carpark to enhance motorists' travel and parking experiences.

     The carpark also supports multiple payment means. Motorists may access the real-time information about the vacancy of the carpark through the TD's mobile application HKeMobility. The Government has leased the carpark to an operator to manage and operate.
