
Appointments to Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board

The Government announced today (December 24) that the Financial Secretary, with the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, has appointed Ms Melissa Kaye Pang and reappointed Mr Jack Cheung Tai-keung as members of the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board for a term of three years from January 1, 2026.
A Government spokesman said, "Ms Pang and Mr Cheung possess rich knowledge and experience in the legal and financial sectors. We have full confidence that they will tender professional advice to the work of the Board.
"We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing member, Mr Lawrence Chan Kam-man, for his invaluable contributions over the past six years."
The Board is a statutory body established in 2004 under the Deposit Protection Scheme Ordinance. It manages the operation of the Deposit Protection Scheme, which aims to protect depositors and contribute to the stability of the banking system.
The aforesaid appointments under the Deposit Protection Scheme Ordinance were gazetted today.
