Director of Fire Services deeply grieved by death of fireman

     The Director of Fire Services, Mr Andy Yeung, expressed profound sadness at the passing of a fireman, Mr Ho Wai-ho, who passed away after sustaining injuries in a No. 5 alarm fire today (November 26).

     Mr Ho, aged 37, was attached to the Sha Tin Fire Station. He was found collapsed at the scene of the No. 5 alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court, Tai Po this afternoon. He was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital and passed away at 4.41pm.

     "Having been a member of the Fire Services Department for about nine years, Mr Ho's performance was valiant. I am profoundly grieved at the loss of this dedicated and gallant fireman. All of our colleagues are deeply saddened by the loss of such a devoted comrade. On behalf of all our colleagues, I have offered the deepest condolences to his family," Mr Yeung said.

     "Our Welfare Officer and Psychological Services Unit are closely liaising with Mr Ho's family and will render our utmost assistance to help them through this sad and difficult time."
