SCOLAR invites funding applications from eligible organisations
***************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research:

The Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR) today (November 25) invited eligible local organisations to submit applications for Language Promotion Schemes funded by the Language Fund for the 2026/27 to 2027/28 school years. The application deadline is noon on January 5, 2026 (Monday).

To further promote the importance of biliteracy and trilingualism among the public and meet the evolving needs of schools and society, SCOLAR has refined the Schemes by (1) introducing the new Advancing Chinese and English Language Competence to cultivate talent proficient in both languages; (2) requiring projects to strengthen creativity, innovativeness and community engagement elements; and (3) discontinuing the former "Sponsorship Projects". All Schemes will henceforth offer both full funding and partial funding modes for eligible organisations to apply for.

Under the Language Promotion Schemes, there are Promotion of Chinese, Promotion of Putonghua, the English Alliance, Advancing Chinese and English Language Competence, and Programmes on Supporting Non-Chinese Speakers in Learning Chinese (including the Project on Supporting Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Children in Learning Chinese and the Vocational Chinese Language Programme for NCS School Leavers). Details of the Schemes, including application guidelines and information of the briefing sessions, are available on the SCOLAR website (www.scolar.gov.hk).
