In Adelaide, Mr Liu was invited to attend an event organised by Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and Flight Training Adelaide to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Civil Aviation Department's CAD509 Approval Scheme (Scheme).
Speaking at the ceremony, he said that over the years of implementing the Scheme, many professional pilots have been trained to serve Hong Kong's air transport system. The Scheme has also provided a high-quality training pathway for people aspiring to become pilots. He also welcomed Cathay Pacific's recent resumption of direct flight services between Hong Kong and Adelaide on November 11.
Mr Liu also took the opportunity to meet with Deputy Consul-General of the People's Republic of China in Adelaide, Mr He Jiangchuan, and briefed him on the latest developments in Hong Kong's aviation industry. He also visited the University of South Australia to share with students on aviation career development opportunities in Hong Kong.
Mr Liu later proceeded to Melbourne to conduct a technical visit to a local enterprise engaged in the research and development of air traffic management and air navigation facilities to learn more about the latest developments and their applications.
Mr Liu will depart for Hong Kong tomorrow morning (November 22).
