Draft Cheung Chau Outline Zoning Plan approved
**********************************************
The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Cheung Chau Outline Zoning Plan (OZP).

"The approved OZP provides a statutory land use planning framework to guide the development and redevelopment within the Cheung Chau area," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (November 7).

The planning scheme area, covering about 307 hectares, comprises the island of Cheung Chau with a land area of about 244 hectares and the about 63-hectare Cheung Chau Typhoon Shelter. It is located about 16 kilometres away from Hong Kong Island and 1km to the southeast of Chi Ma Wan Peninsula.

The approved OZP has incorporated the amendment shown on the draft Cheung Chau OZP No. S/I-CC/10, which involves rezoning a site at Fa Peng from "Residential (Group C) 6" to "Residential (Group C) 9" for residential development.

The Notes and Explanatory Statement of the OZP have been amended to reflect the above amendments. Opportunity is also taken to update the general information of various land use zones and the planning circumstances, where appropriate.

The approved Cheung Chau OZP No. S/I-CC/11 is available for public inspection during office hours at (i) the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, (ii) the Planning Enquiry Counters, (iii) the Sai Kung and Islands District Planning Office, (iv) the Islands District Office, (v) the Islands Home Affairs Enquiry Centre (Cheung Chau), and (vi) the Cheung Chau Rural Committee.

Copies of the approved OZP are available for sale at the Map Publications Centre in North Point. The electronic version of the OZP can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.tpb.gov.hk).
