**********************************************************************
The Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, attended the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Gyeongju, Korea, today (November 1) to exchange views with leaders of other economies on issues including AI development and demographic changes.

Speaking at the meeting in the morning, Mr Lee pointed out that the Asia-Pacific region is undergoing profound changes, from digital and green transitions to sweeping demographic changes, and that it is essential to grasp the opportunities wrought by these transformative shifts in order to build a future-ready Asia-Pacific.

Mr Lee proposed that APEC member economies must remain steadfast in their commitment to multilateralism, grounded on the principles of inclusivity, equality, and cooperation; leverage the innovative power of AI as a key driver of economic growth; and make good use of APEC as a platform for expanding cooperation, unlocking new and inclusive drivers of growth.

The APEC member economies jointly adopted and issued the 2025 APEC Leaders' Gyeongju Declaration, which addresses the shared opportunities and challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region and expresses support for APEC as an important platform for regional economic cooperation, the strengthening of connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region, and the building of resilient supply chains. Mr Lee looks forward to pursuing practical cooperation with fellow member economies in these areas, working together to advance high-quality economic development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr Lee concluded his visit to Korea and will return to Hong Kong tomorrow (November 2).
