DGCA visits Chengdu and Shanghai (with photos)

				In Chengdu, Mr Liu attended the inauguration ceremony of the first cohort of the cadet pilot programme, jointly developed by the Civil Aviation Flight University of China and the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy. He also took the opportunity to visit its new campus in Tianfu and a local electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft developer.
Speaking at the cadet pilot inauguration ceremony, Mr Liu said the training programme approved under CAD509 has marked an important step forward in deepening co-operation between the two places in civil aviation talent training. He added that the programme also offered a new pathway for people who aspire to become pilots and would further strengthen the talent pool for the aviation industry.
During the visit to Shanghai, Mr Liu was invited to attend the International Civil Aviation Forum 2025 hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and gave a speech on how Hong Kong, as an international aviation hub, leverages its advantages of enjoying strong support of the motherland and being closely connected to the world to promote civil aviation development. During the forum, he also had insightful exchanges with aviation leaders from across the globe.
While in Shanghai, Mr Liu also met with senior officials of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd to exchange views on the regional aviation landscape and the latest developments in national commercial aircraft research and development.
Mr Liu will depart for Hong Kong tomorrow morning (October 31).
