Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislation

     Man Cheong Transportation Company Limited was fined $200,000 at the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (October 30) for violating the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
      
     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on September 12, 2024, at a cargo handling wharf in Yau Ma Tei. A worker, while assisting in the unloading operation of a piece of heavy cooking equipment from the tail lift of a lorry, was crushed to death by the equipment, which suddenly toppled and fell from the tail lift.
