
London ETO celebrates Hong Kong Cinema at London East Asia Film Festival 2025 (with photos)

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London (London ETO), the Film Development Fund, and the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency under the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region are pleased to support the London East Asia Film Festival (LEAFF) in showcasing four Hong Kong films and hosting two question and answer (Q&A) sessions with creative talents from October 23 to November 2 (London time). An opening reception was held on October 23 at the National Portrait Gallery in London, welcoming over 100 guests from the local cultural and business sectors.
The Director-General of the London ETO, Miss Fiona Chau, addressed the audience at the opening gala ceremony. "The London ETO is proud to partner with LEAFF for the tenth consecutive year in shining a spotlight on Hong Kong cinema. Hong Kong cinema has always stood out for its bold creativity and rich cultural roots. Today, it continues to grow and evolve, bringing fresh stories, unique perspectives, and a spirit that connects with audiences around the world. We are confident that Hong Kong remains a vibrant crossroads of East-meets-West, and a vital hub for international cultural exchange," she remarked.
At the opening gala ceremony, Director YonFan received the Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating his outstanding contributions to the Hong Kong film sector. He also shared his experiences in the Hong Kong film industry during a Q&A session on October 24. Additionally, Directors Jonathan Li and Chou Man-yu participated in another Q&A session on the same day.
The 11-day festival featured the UK premiere of "Hard Boiled (4K restoration)", along with "Behind the Shadows", "Crossing Years", and "Sons of the Neon Night".
