A fire broke out at a building on Connaught Road Central in Central at 4.24pm today (October 18) and was upgraded to No. 3 alarm at 4.36pm. The fire was surrounded at 5.46pm, put under control at about 7pm and largely put out at 9.13pm.

     Firemen used four jets and mobilised four breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze. 58 persons were self-evacuated to places of safety.
          
     Four persons were injured or felt unwell and were sent to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment respectively.
