Government urges public to stay vigilant against fraudulent webpages and suspicious advertisements about Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme
***************************************************************
The Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS) Office of the Health Bureau today (September 30) reminded the public to stay vigilant against fraudulent webpages about the VHIS and relevant suspicious advertisements to safeguard their personal interests.
The VHIS Office has recently noticed some fraudulent webpages about the VHIS, and some social media advertisements inducing the public to click on embedded hyperlinks to those webpages, that promote a so-called voluntary health insurance scheme, coupled with guidelines, provided by the government department for Hong Kong's elderly. The Office has contacted the Police and relevant social media platforms for follow-up.
The VHIS Office emphasised that the VHIS website is www.vhis.gov.hk and that the Office does not request members of the public to click on any hyperlinks through advertisements, emails, text messages or any other means.
The VHIS Office urged members of the public to stay vigilant, avoid clicking on fraudulent webpages about the VHIS and relevant suspicious advertisements, and refrain from providing personal particulars to any unverified websites. For enquiries, please contact the VHIS Office by hotline at 2529 8900 or email at vhis_enquiry@healthbureau.gov.hk.
