Series of Government Career Fairs at local universities commences today (with photos)
*************************************************************************************
Following the Government's recent launch of the joint recruitment exercise for Administrative Officer (AO), Executive Officer II (EO II) and related grades, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mrs Ingrid Yeung, attended the first Government Career Fair being held at local universities this year this afternoon (September 15). She encouraged students to learn more about the work of various government departments and take an active role in public service.

Mrs Yeung visited the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and officiated at the opening ceremony of the fair with the Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Business) of the university, Professor Lin Chen. They then toured the exhibition booths of various government departments, taking the opportunity to chat with students to learn about their future plans and career aspirations. Many students visited the fair during their spare time and interacted with serving civil servants.

Mrs Yeung reminded university students interested in joining the Government that the joint recruitment exercise for five civil service degree-level jobs (i.e. AO, EO II, Assistant Labour Officer II (ALO II), Assistant Trade Officer II and Management Services Officer II) has commenced. She encouraged young people with aspirations to serve the community to apply and embark on a fruitful career, gain valuable experience and play a vital role in building Hong Kong's future. Applications for this joint recruitment exercise will close on October 3.

Since 2023, the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) has been co-ordinating with various departments in organising Government Career Fairs at local universities. These fairs allow students to learn about the work of various government positions in a more focused manner, and provide opportunities to interact with serving civil servants and ask questions. The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Lingnan University, Hong Kong Baptist University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Education University of Hong Kong will hold career fairs featuring government departments successively from mid-September to early October. Some civil service grades will also hold career talks and other recruitment activities.

Around 30 bureaux and departments took part in the Government Career Fair at HKU today, showcasing around 70 jobs, including AO, EO II, ALO II, Solicitor, Engineering Graduate, Chemist, Official Languages Officer II, Town Planner, Estate Surveyor, Accounting Officer II, Analyst/Programmer II, Assistant Curator II, Assistant Information Officer, education-related posts, as well as various positions in the disciplined services.

For more information about the joint recruitment exercise for civil service degree-level jobs, please visit the CSB website (www.csb.gov.hk).
