
Chinese Film Panorama 2025 opens tonight (with photos)

The opening ceremony for the Chinese Film Panorama 2025 was held tonight (September 10) at the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC), followed by the screening of the opening film "Always Have Always Will" (2025) directed by Liu Jie.
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Miss Rosanna Law; the Film and Television Artistic Director of the Bauhinia Culture Group, Mr Deng Wugui; the Second-level Inspector of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Chen Xinyu; the Chairman of the Southern Film Culture Foundation and General Manager of the Sil-Metropole Organisation Ltd, Mr Ding Kai; the Deputy Director of Leisure and Cultural Services (Culture), Miss Eve Tam; the leader of the Mainland Chinese film delegation, Mr Zhu Haofeng; and the Chairman of the South China Film Industry Workers Union, Mr Cheung Hong-tat, officiated at the opening ceremony.
The Panorama is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Southern Film Culture Foundation in association with Sil-Metropole Organisation Ltd, the China Film Foundation and the South China Film Industry Workers Union, and is supported by the Bauhinia Culture Group. A curated selection of 12 films produced on the Mainland will be shown at the Grand Theatre of the HKCC, the Cinema of the Hong Kong Film Archive, and lecture halls of the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Hong Kong Science Museum, the Auditorium of North District Town Hall, Cine-Art House (Maritime Square) and the Rayson Huang Theatre of the University of Hong Kong from today to October 29.
The opening film "Always Have Always Will" follows a man with hard luck unexpectedly going on a road trip filled with laughter and tears with a quirky young girl, bringing a glimmer of light into each other's gloomy lives.
Other selected films include "Enjoy Yourself" (2024), "Day Dreaming" (2024), "Brief History of A Family" (2024), "Land of Broken Hearts" (2024), "Viva La Vida" (2024), "Stand By Me" (2024), "I Love You, to the Moon, and Back" (2024), "Tale of the Night" (2023), "Gone with the Boat" (2024), "Eye for an Eye 2" (2024) and the animated feature "I Am What I Am 2" (2024).
Screenings of "Tale of the Night" and "I Am What I Am 2" will be free. Each person can obtain up to two tickets per screening on a first-come, first-served basis.
