***************************************************************

The Countryside Conservation Office (CCO) under the Environment and Ecology Bureau is holding the "Discovering Ecological Wonders" National Ecology Day Thematic Exhibition 2025 starting today (September 9) in celebration of the third National Ecology Day (NED).

The exhibition aims to enhance public awareness regarding the culture and natural ecology of Hong Kong's countryside, encourage the public to visit the countryside, and raise the community's awareness of ecological civilisation, as well as embodying the country's core concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets".

The exhibition comprises six zones: Culture Quest, Water Bird Soar, Butterfly Wonderland, Virtual Countryside Walk, Kuk Po Chill & Click, and Countryside Conservation Photo Booth. Combining multimedia interactive installations and educational elements, the exhibition includes a card game, virtual reality games, simulated Danaid butterfly marking, microscopic views of butterfly scales, a special reed field photo zone and a selfie booth, allowing visitors to interactively learn about the culture and natural habitats of the local countryside. The exhibition will also feature the Nature's Gala special event to be held at 2pm on September 13, comprising singing and children's martial arts performances, among others, to attract a wider audience.

The exhibition will be held from today to September 17 at the Event Hall, UG/F, Citywalk 2, Tsuen Wan. Admission is free. The opening hours are from noon to 7pm, with extended hours to 8pm on September 13. For details of the exhibition, please visit the CCO's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/countrysideconservationhk).

The country had designated August 15 as NED every year since 2023, with a view to enhancing public awareness of ecological civilisation and environmental protection. Government and non-governmental organisations have launched a series of special events from August 15 to September 28, including this exhibition, to enable the public to respond to and participate in the third NED this year. Details of the NED Thematic Exhibition and special events have been uploaded to the Countryside Conservation Office website (cco.gov.hk/en/event-calendar/ned2025) and the Hong Kong Biodiversity Information Hub website of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (bih.gov.hk/en/education-programmes/programmes/index.html).
