LCSD accepts applications from nine licensed billiard establishments for relaxation of entry restrictions

To enable more young people to access billiard sports and promote its development in Hong Kong, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) started accepting applications from licensed billiard establishments on February 25 this year for the relaxation of entry restrictions under the Places of Amusement Regulation (Cap. 132BA). The relaxation measures include lowering the minimum age limit from 16 to 8 years old; reducing the restriction of entry hours for young patrons from the current 8pm to 10am (i.e. restriction of 14 hours per day) to a new timeframe of 11pm to 7am (eight hours per day); and permitting persons in school uniforms to enter licensed billiard establishments.

The LCSD received a total of 32 applications. Having considered information and assessments provided by relevant government departments (including the Police and the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Office of the Department of Health) regarding the applicants' operational situations, the surrounding environments and the enforcement figures against smoking offences as well as the facilities and activities promoting billiards, the LCSD accepted applications from the following nine billiard establishments:
