
Reappointment of Chairman and member of Electoral Affairs Commission

The Chief Executive (CE) has reappointed the Honourable Mr Justice David Lok, Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court, as Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) for a term of three years from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2028. The CE has also reappointed Professor Daniel Shek Tan-lei as member of the EAC for a term of three years from September 29, 2025, to September 28, 2028. The appointments were gazetted today (August 8).
"We are pleased that Mr Justice David Lok and Professor Daniel Shek Tan-lei will continue to serve as the Chairman and member of the EAC. Their reappointments are conducive to the continuation of the EAC's work and their experience in electoral matters will be of great help to the EAC in accomplishing its future tasks. We will continue to liaise closely with the EAC to actively prepare for the two important elections this year," a Government spokesman said.
The EAC is a statutory body established under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance (Cap. 541). Its responsibilities include making recommendations on constituency boundaries, the conduct and supervision of public elections, and making regulations, guidelines and arrangements for the registration of electors. The objective of the EAC is to ensure that public elections in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region are smoothly conducted in an open, fair and honest manner.
