Public housing resident convicted by court for making false statements
**********************************************************************
The PRH resident living in Yung Shing Court in Fanling failed to declare in the Income and Assets Declaration Forms in 2022 that she owned landed property in Hong Kong. Furthermore, she declared in her application for Sale of Home Ownership Scheme Flats in 2023 that she did not have any domestic property in Hong Kong. An investigation by the HD revealed that she had owned a domestic property in Tai Po and a non-residential property in Tuen Mun at the material time. The HD recovered the subject PRH flat in March 2024.
Having considered the gravity of the offence and the precious PRH resources involved, the PRH resident was convicted of three charges amounting to a total fine of $54,000, plus imprisonment for two months (suspended for 12 months) on each of the charges, to run concurrently.
PRH residents are reminded that households living in PRH, as well as those applying for subsidised housing, should dutifully declare all their income, assets, and properties. All PRH households should accurately complete their Income and Assets Declaration Forms, read the content and completion guidelines of the Declaration Forms carefully and compute their income and assets in accordance with the methods specified.
The HD will continue to adopt multipronged measures to combat the abuse of PRH in a comprehensive manner.
