Missing person case in Cheung Sha Wan reclassified as murder

     Police today (June 30) reclassified a missing person case happened in Cheung Sha Wan on June 21 as murder.

     At around 8pm on June 21, Police received a report that a 49-year-old foreign woman was found missing after she left her residence on Nullah Road, Mong Kok, at noon on the same day.

     Upon further investigation, Police believed the woman had been to a unit on Castle Peak Road, Cheung Sha Wan, accompanied by a foreign man suspected to be involved in the case before her disappearance. Some bloodstains were found in the unit. Chemical examination showed that the bloodstains belonged to the 49-year-old woman. Police reasonably believed that she had been killed and reclassified the case as murder today.     

     Police arrested a 25-year-old foreign woman on June 25 in Sham Shui Po, believing that she assisted the man in fleeing after the case. She was laid a holding charge with one count of “assisting an offender" and the case was mentioned at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on June 27.

     Active investigation by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West is under way.
