Contractor and director fined for violation of safety legislation

     Man Young Industrial Limited and a director were fined $330,000 and $390,000 respectively at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (June 25) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Suspended Working Platforms) Regulation and the Criminal Procedure Ordinance. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on June 13, 2022, in a building renovation site at Conduit Road, Hong Kong. While two workers were demonstrating the operation of a suspended working platform on the roof of a building, the suspended working platform suddenly tilted and fell. The two workers fell together with the suspended working platform from the roof to the ground and died.
