"Summer of Light: Cinematic Adventure" to take children on wonderful cinematic journey (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
During the event, SWHCC will be transformed into a fun and interactive place decorated for families. Children can create their own artwork at the "Draw and Glow: Creative Light Exploration" zone by projecting their drawings on transparent films onto a screen and seeing them come to life.
In addition, a collection of captivating children's short films from different eras will be screened in the "Film Zone with Selected Short Films", including two short film series, "A Splash of Colour" and "Still Image & Movement", curated by Taartrovers, a film education organisation for young children in the Netherlands. These series explore the diverse effects of colour on film and feature one of the earliest cinematic works, "L'Arrivée d'un train en gare de La Ciotat" (1895). The short films will be screened in a loop, allowing families to enjoy a relaxed and immersive movie-watching experience at any time.
The event also features three ticketed parent-child workshops. In the "Where Is Ding-Ding? The Story Begins!" workshop, illustrator Jess Lau and a storyteller will lead participants into the world of Lau's original picture book "Where is Tram Ding-Ding?", using images and light designs to embark on a magical journey. In the "The New World of Little Tram Ding-Ding - Stop Motion Animation Workshop", Lau will lead participants to create their own story spaces through collage and painting, shoot a simple stop-motion animation, and unleash their creativity. Combining sensory experience and film language, the "Tiny Bodies, Earth Memories - First Cinematic Experience for Toddler" workshop will be hosted by film director Tsang Tsui-shan, who will transform light and shadows into an interactive playground for toddlers and parents to explore together.
Each child participating in the workshops is required to be accompanied by a parent or an adult. "Where is Ding-Ding? The Story Begins!" and "Tiny Bodies, Earth Memories - First Cinematic Experience for Toddler" are priced at $90 for parents and adults and $60 for children. "The New World of Little Tram Ding-Ding - Stop Motion Animation Workshop" is priced at $180 for parents and adults and $120 for children. Tickets are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk).
