Over 400 young musicians to perform at Music Office Annual Gala with fine music
*******************************************************************************
A wide variety of delightful music pieces will be brought to the audience by the Music Office Youth and Children's Choirs, the Hong Kong Youth Strings, the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra, the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band under the batons of the Music Office instructors Lai Wing-yan, Dr Joseph Kam, Kwok Kin-ming and Kevin Ling.
Concert programme includes two vibrant choral works "Enter with Song" and "We are the Voices"; a touching and haunting adagietto from Mahler's "Symphony No. 5"; "The World Takes on a New Look for Spring", selected from the modern Peking opera "Taking Tiger Mountain by Stratagem"; "National Spirit", inspired by the traditional Guqin classic; an adagio from the "Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27", demonstrating Russian maestro Rachmaninoff's mastery of music compositions; "March on Eight Folk Tunes (It happened one day in May)", based on the traditional British folk melodies; and a wind ensemble piece "Crescent Moon Dance", composed for the Japanese animation "Sound! Euphonium".
Awards of the year will be presented to the most outstanding trainees and members of the Music Office's band, orchestras and choirs at the concert.
