******************************************************************************************
The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Chan Kwok-ki, led the delegation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and representatives of business sectors to start the final day of its visit in Huizhou today (November 27). The delegation concluded the three-day visit to the Mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Mr Chan led the delegation from Dongguan to Huizhou in the morning. They first visited the start-up area of the China-Korea (Huizhou) Industrial Park to understand more about the development of the park in attracting and nurturing emerging industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing, new-generation information technology, and new energy and materials. Afterwards, the delegation attended the Huizhou-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference to learn about the latest development of Huizhou. Mr Chan said Hong Kong and Huizhou have close ties in terms of geographical proximity and social interactions. Huizhou has a solid foundation in manufacturing while Hong Kong has a well-developed service industry. Hong Kong and Huizhou can fully leverage their respective advantages to achieve mutual benefits.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited BYD Automobile Industrial Park Phase II and was briefed by representatives of the BYD Group on the latest development of the enterprise. The delegation then visited the management committee of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone to learn about the management of its industrial cluster which is mainly supported by the new energy automobile industry and complemented by the new energy storage industry, material industry and intelligent manufacturing robotics industry.

The delegation arrived in Shenzhen in the early evening and attended the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference to exchange views on further promoting co-operation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Mr Chan said that Hong Kong and Shenzhen are only a river apart and have a close relationship through continuous exchanges between the people, as well as in economy and trade. They are indeed sister cities and also dual engines of the GBA. He added that Hong Kong will continue to take the initiative and gather strength to proactively participate in promoting the development of the GBA.

Concluding the trip to the GBA, Mr Chan thanked the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and the Guangdong Provincial Government, as well as the CPC municipal committees and municipal governments of the five cities which the delegation visited, namely Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou and Shenzhen, for their support and extensive work in ensuring a smooth visit. The visit has been the most rewarding for members of the delegation of the HKSAR Government and representatives of business sectors, and has laid down a more solid foundation for further promoting more effective co-operation between Hong Kong and other GBA cities.

Mr Chan and the delegation completed their visit and returned to Hong Kong today.
