CSD fully supports passage of Safeguarding National Security Bill
*****************************************************************
The Correctional Services Department (CSD) has pledged full support for the passage of the Safeguarding National Security Bill by the Legislative Council today (March 19).

The Comissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Wong Kwok-hing, said that the Bill fully implements the constitutional duty and requirements for safeguarding national security set out in Article 23 of the Basic Law, representing a very important step to establish the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to safeguard national security. The CSD will ensure the effective implementation of the ordinances, so as to safeguard national security.

The CSD, as the last element in the criminal justice system, will continue to ensure prison stability and prevent anyone in prison from organising or nurturing power to oppose the Central Authorities and stir up disorder in society, in an effort to safeguard national sovereignty.
