New York ETO promotes Hong Kong's fintech and I&T in Atlanta (with photos)

     ​The Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York, Ms Maisie Ho, promoted Hong Kong's fintech and innovation and technology (I&T) during her three-day duty visit in Atlanta, Georgia from February 21 to 23 (Atlanta time).
      
     As a host of a luncheon supported by Invest Hong Kong on February 22, Ms Ho gave a briefing on the latest development of fintech in Hong Kong to the attending representatives from local government, chambers of commerce, advance technology development centres and enterprises in the technology sector.
      
     Later in the day, Ms Ho attended a Lunar New Year business forum organised by the Hong Kong Association of Atlanta, World Trade Center Atlanta and the Office of International Initiatives of Georgia State University to explore the role of artificial intelligence, data management and electric vehicles in Asia.
      
     She highlighted the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's key strategies in further enhancing the city's I&T ecosystem and promoting global collaboration. She also provided an overview of the latest initiatives in attracting overseas investment and talents to Hong Kong, as well as the development of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone.
      
     During her stay in Atlanta, Ms Ho hosted a spring reception at Georgia Aquarium in the evening of February 21 for some 200 guests from the city's political, business and finance, as well as academic communities.
      
     On promoting education exchanges between Hong Kong and Atlanta, Ms Ho met with Vice Provost for International Initiatives Mr Bernard Kippelen, and Associate Director for Economic Development Ms Merry Hunter Caudle – both from Georgia Institute of Technology; Associate Provost, Office of International Initiatives Dr Carrie Manning, and the Head of Academic & Outreach Initiatives, Ms Kimberly Henshaw – both from Georgia State University; as well as Associate Dean of Pathway Center Mr Branden Grimett, and Vice Provost of Global Strategy and Initiative Mr Philip Wainwright, both from Emory University. Various talent admission schemes were also introduced to the three universities. She also met with the President of World Affairs Council of Atlanta, Ms Rickey Bevington, to provide her with latest updates on Hong Kong's post-pandemic recovery and new economic drivers for the city.
      
     Before returning to New York on February 23, Ms Ho had a breakfast meeting with Atlanta's fintech executives to exchange views on the latest fintech development in both cities.
