Employer fined for violation of safety legislation

     Tung Wah Group of Hospitals was fined $100,000 at Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (January 19) for violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on March 31, 2023, at an elderly complex in Tai Po. While a worker was transporting two meal carts, one of them suddenly toppled over, causing the worker to fall backward and her head hit the ground. The worker sustained a severe head injury and passed away nine days later.
