TD reminds public of implementation of time-varying tolls at three road harbour crossings from 5am on December 17 (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
The Transport Department (TD) reminded the public today (December 7) that time-varying tolls will be implemented in the three road harbour crossings (RHCs), namely the Western Harbour Crossing (WHC), the Cross-Harbour Tunnel (CHT) and the Eastern Harbour Crossing (EHC), from 5am on December 17 (Sunday).

The TD has launched a new round of publicity through various channels, including social media platforms, online and TV promotions, "HKeMobility" mobile application, tunnel radio break-in announcements, variable message signs, etc, to introduce the implementation of time-varying tolls. Among them, the new toll information displays, which were added at/near the existing toll points of HKeToll in both directions of the three RHCs, have displayed the relevant promotional information, allowing drivers to be aware of the toll point locations at the RHCs in advance and to get prepared for the time-varying tolls.

After the implementation of time-varying tolls, the public can obtain real-time toll information through the toll information displays or the TD's "HKeMobility" mobile application and website. After passing through the RHCs, motorists can check the time of using the tunnel and the toll payable/paid via the "HKeToll" mobile application and website.

The details of time-varying tolls are set out in the Annex. The tolls for private cars and motorcycles (including motor tricycles) will vary according to the time slots. From Mondays to Saturdays (excluding general holidays), the tolls for private cars using the WHC range from $20 to $60 while those using the CHT and the EHC range from $20 to $40; the tolls for motorcycles using the WHC range from $8 to $24, while those using the CHT and the EHC range from $8 to $16. During general holidays, the tolls of the three RHCs range from $20 to $25 for private cars and from $8 to $10 for motorcycles. Transition charging arrangements will be put in place between different time slots to ensure orderly bridging and to safeguard road safety.

As for other types of vehicles, the tolls will remain at a fixed level throughout the day, with taxis using the three RHCs being charged $25 throughout the day, while other commercial vehicles, including goods vehicles and buses, being charged $50 throughout the day.

For details of the time-varying tolls, please visit the TD's website: www.td.gov.hk/en/transport_in_hong_kong/tunnels_and_bridges_n/tvt/index.html. The public can also view the short video at youtu.be/BqFI67i8m0c to learn about the specific arrangements for time-varying tolls.
