Over 200 school bands and orchestras to perform at Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows

The 2023 Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows organised by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will be held from November 14 to December 2. More than 200 orchestras and bands from local primary and secondary schools will participate in the event, which provides an opportunity for students to conduct musical exchanges and gain performing experience through Chinese Orchestra, String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Band Interflows.

Over 70 orchestras will participate in the six classes of the Chinese Orchestra Interflow at the Auditorium of Tuen Mun Town Hall from November 14 to 16.

About 40 orchestras will take part in the four classes of the String Orchestra Interflow at the Auditorium of the Yuen Long Theatre on November 15 and 16.

About 40 orchestras will perform in the Symphony Orchestra Interflow, with four classes to be held at the Concert Hall of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on November 21 and 22.

Over 60 bands will take part in the six classes of the Symphonic Band Interflow at the Arena of Queen Elizabeth Stadium from November 28 to December 1. The top two Gold Award Winners of each class (if awarded) will be invited to compete for the Tom Lee Cup in the primary and secondary school categories at the Symphonic Band Extravaganza on December 2. Renowned British saxophonist Professor Gerard McChrystal, together with the Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band, will guest perform at the Symphonic Band Extravaganza, bringing an unforgettable musical feast to the audience.

Tickets for the Chinese Orchestra Interflow are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). Those for the String Orchestra Interflow and the Symphony Orchestra Interflow will be available from October 18 and October 24 onwards respectively, while those for the Symphonic Band Interflow will be available from October 31 onwards.
