LCSD invites public to join free programmes of Performing Arts Carnival 2023 (with photos)

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present Performing Arts Carnival 2023 from October to December at Tuen Mun Town Hall (TMTH), Sha Tin Town Hall (STTH), Tsuen Wan Town Hall, Yuen Long Theatre and Kwai Tsing Theatre. The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), venue partners, local arts groups and district organisations will showcase an array of free performing arts programmes. The first two carnivals will be held from 2pm to 5pm on October 15 and 22 (both Sundays) at TMTH and STTH respectively. Members of the public are welcome to join.
 
     The fascinating programmes of the Performing Arts Carnival 2023 will cover dance, drama, music and Chinese opera. HKAPA students will offer different dance performances and an excerpt of the original musical "Home Sweet Home". On music and Chinese opera, HKAPA students will present a percussion performance with both original and arranged works as well as an excerpt from the Chinese opera "Sea of Sin" at TMTH. They will also present a wind and brass ensemble concert and "Under the Umbrella" from the Chinese opera "The Moon Pavilion" at STTH.
 
     Various fringe activities will also be held at the carnivals. TMTH will stage Cantonese opera and musical performances by the Spring-Time Experimental Theatre, Cantonese opera performances by the Glory Chinese Opera Institute, as well as dance performances and workshops by the Tuen Mun Arts Promotion Association. A Cantonese opera appreciation activity by the Cantonese Opera Advancement Association, an interactive theatre experience by the Radiant Theatre as well as a series of flow arts workshops by Flow Space Arts Studio will be held at STTH.
 
     Admission to all programmes is free with limited places available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets for the fringe activities at TMTH and STTH will be available at the enquiry counter of the respective venues on the event day from noon while stocks last.
