Appointment to Electoral Affairs Commission

     The Chief Executive has appointed Mr Bernard Man, SC, as a member of the Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) for a term of three years with effect from September 22, 2023, to September 21, 2026. The appointment was gazetted today (September 22).
 
     "We are pleased that Mr Bernard Man has accepted the appointment to serve on the EAC. Mr Man is a seasoned Senior Counsel in private practice who mainly engages in commercial litigation and civil practice. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Civil Law degree at the University of Oxford and was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple) and to the Hong Kong Bar in 2000. His legal expertise as well as experience and dedication in public service will be invaluable to the EAC in accomplishing its duties," a Government spokesman said.
 
     The EAC is an independent statutory body established under the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance. Its responsibilities include making recommendations on geographical constituency boundaries, and making regulations, guidelines and arrangements for the registration of electors and the conduct of public elections. The main objective of the EAC is to ensure that public elections are conducted in an open, fair and honest manner.
