SCED to attend partnering conference on emerging industries in Malaysia

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Algernon Yau, will depart for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, tomorrow afternoon (September 20) to attend the China (Shenzhen, Hong Kong) - ASEAN (Kuala Lumpur) Emerging Industries Partnering Conference jointly organised by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, with a view to promoting the latest developments and business opportunities of Hong Kong's emerging industries.

     Mr Yau will also meet with senior government officials of Malaysia and business leaders to have exchanges on strengthening economic and business co-operation between the two places.

     Mr Yau will return to Hong Kong on September 22. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Dr Bernard Chan, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development.
