Cluster of Rhinovirus cases in Cheshire Home, Shatin

The spokesperson for Cheshire Home, Shatin (SCH) made the following announcement today (September 12) regarding the cluster of Rhinovirus cases:
Four patients (aged 62 to 73) in a male ward of the Infirmary Unit have been presenting with fever or respiratory symptoms since September 5. Appropriate viral tests had been arranged for the patients and their test results were positive for Rhinovirus. The patients concerned are being treated in isolation with stable condition.
Admission to the ward has been suspended. The hospital has enhanced infection control measures as well as applying stringent droplet and contact precautions and reinforcing cleaning and disinfection for the environment and facilities of the ward.
The hospital will continue to closely monitor the situation in the ward concerned. The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow-up.
