HAD sets up help desks for application of emergency relief funds to assist persons affected by Typhoon Saola and torrential rain to fill in application forms

     For two consecutive days from today (September 12) to tomorrow (September 13), the Home Affairs Department has set up dedicated help desks at the 18 districts to assist members of the public with financial difficulties distressed by Typhoon Saola and torrential rain to fill in application forms for emergency relief funds provided by government departments and the major charity groups. Apart from the help desks set up at 20 Home Affairs Enquiry Centres (HAECs) in different districts, the Government has also sent staff to set up help desks at 27 Rural Committees (RCs) in the New Territories. In addition to staff from different District Offices, staff from the Social Welfare Department, the Lands Department and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department are also stationed to support the operation of the help desks under the mobilisation protocol for civil servants.

     Details of the Help Desks in 18 District Offices are set out in Annex 1. Help Desks at the 20 HAECs will open from 9am to 7pm while those at the RCs will open from 10am to 6pm. 

     The emergency assistance funds provided by government departments are listed in Annex 2. The emergency assistance funds under major charitable organisations include Po Leung Kuk Charity Fund for the Disadvantaged, Po Leung Kuk the Wang Family Charity Fund, Yan Chai Emergency Assistance Relief Fund, Pok Oi Hospital Emergency Relief Fund, Yan Oi Tong "Love and Care" Project, Lok Sin Tong Caring Fund and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Emergency Relief Fund.
