CSB to launch roving recruitment talks in Shanghai and Beijing today (with photos)
**********************************************************************************
To encourage more Hong Kong students studying in Mainland universities to join the civil service of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) will organise roving recruitment talks in Shanghai and Beijing starting from today (September 12) to introduce work of different grades, employment opportunities and recruitment processes.

The Government will add Shanghai as an additional test centre in December for the Joint Recruitment Examination, the Common Recruitment Examination and the Basic Law and National Security Law Test. The first recruitment talk on the Administrative Officer (AO) and Executive Officer (EO) grades will be held this evening at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Shanghai of the HKSAR Government for Hong Kong residents studying or residing in Shanghai who wish to apply for civil service posts to take part on site or via the internet in real time.

This is the first time for the CSB to organise recruitment talks in Shanghai and Beijing. In addition to the recruitment seminar at the HKETO in Shanghai, recruitment seminars on the AO and EO grades will also be held at the Office of HKSAR Government in Beijing (Beijing Office), as well as campuses of Peking University, Tsinghua University and Fudan University. Serving AOs and EOs who have joined the HKSAR Government upon graduating from Mainland universities will also return to their alma mater to share their experience in applying for government jobs during the talks and respond to participants' questions on the spot.

Last week, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mrs Ingrid Yeung, visited Sun Yat-sen University and Jinan University in Guangdong Province as well as Huaqiao University in Fujian Province to brief Hong Kong students on the various job opportunities provided by the HKSAR Government.

The Government will launch the Joint Recruitment Exercise for the posts of AO, EOII, Assistant Labour Officer II, Assistant Trade Officer II, Management Services Officer II and Transport Officer II in the middle of this month. Moreover, different departments/grades are planning to conduct recruitment exercises later this year, while a number of grades will conduct year-round recruitment. Different employment opportunities are provided to graduates from different disciplines.

To attract people with aspirations to serve the community to join the civil service, 22 departments/grades have extended the positions' application requirements to cover students who are currently studying for a bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualifications and will graduate in 2025.
