London ETO brings Hong Kong kung fu cinema to London (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) supported the screening of "Sakra", an action film co-directed by and starring Donnie Yen, at the Fighting Spirit Film Festival held at Stratford East Picturehouse, London, on September 9 (London time).

     The annual Fighting Spirit Film Festival celebrates martial arts culture in the United Kingdom. The 2023 festival in London ran from September 8 to 10, featuring Hong Kong action films, martial arts workshop and seminar, as well as other action films.

     Addressing the audience in her welcoming remarks, Deputy Director-General of the London ETO Ms Amy Wong said, "Hong Kong has one of the largest and most dynamic film and entertainment industries in the world, and Hong Kong's Kung fu films have always been holding a special place in the hearts of global audience. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has been putting strong emphasis on nurturing talents in the film industry. Thanks to the boundless creativity of Hong Kong film practitioners, together with the passion of film lovers around the globe, we are confident that Hong Kong would continue to be the East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange as supported by the National 14th Five-Year Plan."

     The Fighting Spirit Film Festival presented two Hong Kong films this year, namely, "Sakra" and "Yes, Madam!".
